The Kiuchi Brewery's owl flies the flag inside Ecute Shinagawa, two floors up and sixty meters from the Shinkansen gates. This is a directly-run taproom, Hitachino Nest on ten taps, poured fresh from the Ibaraki brewery that's been at it since 1823 (sake first, beer since the '90s). Bright, glassed-in, station-clean, with counter and table seating for 59 under a low commuter hum; non-smoking, no cover. The move: the three-glass tasting set at 1,500 yen to clock the White Ale against a seasonal, or a quick pint before boarding. Hinomaru whisky and gin, both Kiuchi's own, hold the shelf. Burgers and German potato handle the hunger. Coffee if you're early.
