A basement room off the Shinjuku West Exit that files itself under "beer bar" but actually runs on whisky. Twenty-five seats, low light, smoking permitted throughout, and enough distance from the station crush to hear yourself think. The bottle wall is the point: single malts sorted by region, Speyside through Islay, plus bourbon and Japanese pours. Beer is an afterthought here (five bottles, Yona Yona the lone craft nod), so skip it. Order a regional malt neat, or a seasonal fresh-fruit cocktail if you're easing in. Flat 500 yen seat charge; cards and QR both work. Good solo, holds up for a quiet date.
