Down a staircase off Shinjuku's south exit, this German-style izakaya sprawls across two basement floors dressed like an alpine lodge — bare wood, warm low light, beer mugs clattering. It runs loud once the banquet crowd lands, so book a corner or come early on a weekday. The tap list is traditional German and Czech: Bitburger Premium Pils, Köstritzer Schwarzbier, Tucher Dunkel, Pilsner Urquell poured into the mug. This is import territory, not local craft — order the Schwarzbier with the five-sausage plate and a potato side. A 500-yen otoshi applies regardless, and a standing section absorbs the overflow. Cards and QR pay both work.
