Tucked into the ground floor of Shimbashi Ekimae Building No. 1 — the notoriously dense salaryman drinking corridor — Viva okei is the outlier: a turquoise-noren natural wine bar run by sommelier Tomone Takeda and chef Erika Togawa, both women, in a city where that combo is still rare. Born from a near-death-by-COVID story, the spot was saved by a crowdfunding campaign from regulars and relaunched. The wall menu rotates constantly — 20 to 30 natural wines by the glass, sourced primarily from Italy, zero fixed labels. Skip the pasta, go straight for an orange or pét-nat, and let Takeda pick.
