Yanaka Beer Hall sits inside Ueno Sakuragi Atari, a trio of 1938 wooden houses rebuilt around a courtyard. Representative Hitomi Yoshida designed it for solo drinkers—people show up with a book and keep to themselves at the counter. Courtyard tables handle small groups; upstairs there’s a tatami room for six to eight when the street starts filling with cameras. It opened in 2015 and runs more like a neighborhood tasting room than a pub crawl stop. The taps lean on house beers (Yanaka Dry/Amber/Golden/Bitter), brewed off-site at DHC Beer in Gotemba. Food stays in beer-snack territory: the Atari set, pickles, cheese, jerky. Start with the flight, then commit.
