Opened October 1, 2013 as Komae's first dedicated craft beer tap, predating the town's now-known reputation as a craft beer pocket (three breweries in Japan's second-smallest city). Name decodes from Latin: spica (ear of barley) plus carbo (charcoal), which sets the whole brief: 8 rotating taps domestic and imported (one swap per day, Y.Market, Nara Jozo and similar regulars), paired with serious charcoal grilling. The third-generation manager Kobayashi-san moved through customer to staff to lead, took over two years ago, and books taps based on personal brewery visits. Signature is the lamb skewer cut to order from a whole leg block (never pre-cut, takes time, worth waiting for) plus assorted mushroom marinade. Every 29th is 'meat day' lamb all-you-can-eat. Open terrace counter, an alley behind Komae City Hall next to BAKERY pan. Closed Mondays.
