GRAN ZOO is the taproom for Kanpai! Brewing: the pub is on the 1st floor, the brewhouse sits upstairs, and the beers rotate under the ‘-zaka’ naming habit. It’s run by the Zip The Futurs group (also behind the OZ/NZ wine spot Zoogunzoo), which explains why the food isn’t an afterthought. The room is tiny—9 counter seats plus one four-top—so the vibe follows whoever’s already talking. Expect 6–8 Kanpai taps when things are running, plus wine and simple highballs. Order the chicken-heart garlic sauté or the liver fry; Kanazawa seafood and occasional crocodile/kangaroo skewers appear. ¥300 table charge, cashless, non-smoking, English menu.
