Tail’s started as an import-beer pub brand in the late 90s and this Hongo outpost has been running since 2008, a short walk from Todai’s edge. The room is built like an old pub set: dark wood, breweriana, and a counter that keeps the regulars in eyesight. The draw is classic European taps—Pilsner Urquell shows up often—plus a deep bottle list and Scotch to switch gears. Smoking is allowed and there’s no charge, so locals drop in after work or after a game on the TV. Eat something salty; leave before your clothes absorb it. If you want novelty, ask what just landed; otherwise stick to the classics.
