Opened November 2015 by a Fire House Hongo alum, CRUZ has held a Tabelog Hamburger Hyakumeiten slot nearly every year since 2017—2026 included. The move is the Tokyo-style burger: hand-chopped domestic beef patty seared on lava stone, cradled in a long-fermented French-style bun, with house-smoked bacon as the signature upgrade. Six to eight taps rotate through an owner-picked lineup—Kiuchi/Hitachino, Lagunitas, Brewdog—plus one cider line, no flights. Twenty seats total on a quiet Saneicho backstreet, closed Tuesdays, Wednesday lunch only. Book ahead or arrive off-peak. Burger crowd outpaces the beer crowd, but the tap list is taken seriously.
